POSITION: Sr. Software Engineer -Data Layer

JOB LOCATION: BANGALORE

EXPERIENCE: 4- 7 years

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a member of Data Layer team the person should be a quick learner, enthusiastic and passionate in whatever he does. He should have good problem solving ability and must be strong in OO concepts. He should be able to design, develop and deliver with minimal of intervention and strong focus on business success. He/She will be a part of a core team mining huge volumes of data on big Hadoop clusters to extract statistical and behavioral information about users on AOL properties. This information would be used directly/indirectly to provide passive personalization on different channels and increase user-engagement.


MUST HAVE SKILLS:
1. Object Oriented programming skills (OOAD, Design Experience)
2. Strong Data Structures and Algorithms knowledge.
3. Good coding experience (4+ years) in a high level language (Java).
4. Exposure to Machine learning techniques (clustering, recommendation engines).
5. Experience with an open source distributed computing platform â€" Hadoop.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

1. Exposure to scripting languages (bash, perl etc.)
2. Understanding of Collaborative Filtering techniques.
3. Contributions to open source project.
4. Knowledge of Apache PIG.
